The CEO and Creative Director of Ivory Isle Designs, Josie Helmstetter discusses the creation of Libby and Andrew’s unique wedding stationery.
How did Libby first connect with Ivory Isle Designs?
“I had the pleasure of meeting Libby at at the Twin Cities Bridal Show.”
Did Libby explain why she ultimately chose to work with Ivory Isle Designs?
“She chose Ivory Isle because of our ability to customize a design just for her, without a custom design fee. We were able to design something tailored to her specific event at an affordable price, with attentive service. She was able to see her custom design printed as a sample in her hands before she even put down a deposit, which was a big factor, I believe.”
How clear of an idea did Libby have of what she wanted? How involved were you in helping her reach a final decision?
“Libby and Andrew selected the Nicollet Island Pavilion as their venue, which is a beautiful event center on the Mississippi River right in downtown Minneapolis. It has a natural feel, with trees and the river rushing by, while being set against the electric Minneapolis skyline.
“Because of this juxtaposition, we wanted the stationery to feel both rustic and modern at the same time, so achieving that was a bit of a challenge. After concepting ideas together, we came back to her with a design of modern birch trees in navy and copper colors. It set a natural tone while feeling modern and minimalist – the perfect balance!”
Which design suite did Libby settle on and why?
“She chose our Birch Trees design suite as the base design, but didn’t like the portrait orientation, so we changed it to landscape for her, and reworked other elements to fit her needs.”
Did Libby have any unusual or surprising requests while collaborating with you on her printables?
“Usually, if we use matte card stock, we’ll also use matte envelopes, for consistency. Libby loved our Soft Ivory matte card stock and chose to pair it with a copper shimmer envelope. Though it isn’t common practice to do this, it worked perfectly in our mission to mix natural and modern elements!”
How happy was Libby with the finished products? Did she share any feedback on them from the other members of the bridal party and/or the guests?
“Both Libby and her Mom have been so sweet to share praise, reviews and images from her big day! After invitations, they also ordered personalized place cards and ceremony programs. They said they got wonderful feedback from all the guests on the stationery!”
Did Libby get back to you about the big day itself?
“Libby was kind enough to send us gorgeous photos of her big day, through her photographer Eric Vest.”
“It’s always such a pleasure to work with local couples and their family members, when we can work together in person and get to know each other. Also, working with venues and planners who I’ve worked with for years already, is a real treat!”
