Renee recently married her husband, Matt, this past May with a beautiful celebration at Rockwoods in Otsego, MN. We caught up with Renee to hear all about the wedding planning process for her big day, her vision for her wedding stationery, and their surprisingly delicious centerpieces.
How did you and your husband meet?
“Matt and I met online, and we talked for 3 months before even deciding to meet, which during our time talking, we realized we had mutual friends before we met, so that helped a lot and I didn’t feel as nervous meeting him for the first time. We clicked instantly, and my mom always knew he would be the one right when she met him!”
What was your favorite part of the wedding planning process?
“My favorite part of the wedding planning process was spending quality time with my mom and having her help me with decorations and ideas for the wedding. I am not a crafty person, but my mom and her friend Lanette are very talented and helped me with the decor, which was very fun! I also loved that my husband, Matt, wanted to be included in the plans and give ideas, which made it fun for the both of us!”
Why did you choose your venue?
“I chose Rockwoods in Otsego because they have such amazing food and the service was always excellent. We would go there sometimes for work Christmas parties or family dinners and I always told my parents that’s where I wanted to get married and have my wedding (I wasn’t even dating anyone when I was telling them this… but it happened).”
What was your favorite wedding detail?
“We did cakes for our centerpieces. Our friends and family loved the idea and it was a huge success. We didn’t even have a full cake left over! We did 4 different flavors: lemon, almond, marble, and carrot. It was a fun conversation starter and some people would try to find a piece of each!”
What made you choose Ivory Isle Designs for your wedding?
“My mom was watching Twin Cities Live one day and they were doing a wedding segment, which features Ivory Isle Designs. My mom and I were having such a tough time with invites because we didn’t like any of the designs or it wasn’t what we were looking for. The next day, my mom called and set up an appointment with Ivory Isle and they made my vision come to life, more than what I could have imagined! I received so many compliments on my wedding invitations and also the programs that Ivory Isle designed to fit my theme!”
Would you recommend Ivory Isle Designs to other brides?
“Working with Ivory Isle Designs was amazing. We looked at several options on how to design the invitations, and if something was out of our budget, they would accommodate and give other ideas within the budget. We decided we wanted to incorporate our flowers and colors on the invitations and showed Ivory Isles the pictures and kind of flowers; they provided 5 or 6 different sample ideas and we went from there. I couldn’t believe how well they turned out – they were just what we wanted and more!”
