Vilma recently married her husband, Mario, in a tropical destination wedding in Costa Rica. We caught up with Vilma to find out all about the process of planning her dream destination wedding.
How did you and your husband meet?
“We met through work, at a leadership seminar.”
Where was your venue and why did you choose it?
“Villa Calletas, Jaco, Costa Rica – [our] venue was chosen because Mario is originally from Costa Rica and we were looking for something different. Many family and friends have never been there, so it made it a fun trip for everyone!”
What was your favorite part of the whole wedding planning process?
“Everything was a bit stressful because it was a destination wedding. I made sure to get as many items from Costa Rica as possible to really bring in the culture of Costa Rica. I learned more about Mario by getting married there and working in the culture. Picking up the dress there was the most fun!”
What was your favorite part of the day and why?
“My favorite part of the day was when Mario and I did our first dance. We had taken private dance classes beforehand and we shocked people with a merenge dance when we took the floor!”
On reflection, is there anything you might have done differently?
“Everything turned out so well, the only thing I would change would be to invite even more people, to have more loved ones to enjoy that day with us!”
Do you have any words of wisdom for future brides?
“Just enjoy! Try not to stress because the day will go so fast. Take it all in with joy, because it is such a special day. Don’t let small things bother you.”
How did you find Ivory Isle Designs?
“Searching online and I was very happy with the pricing and the designs offered. It fit our style perfectly.”
What was your vision/inspiration for your wedding stationery?
“We were inspired by the sea and the sunset. We wanted a mix of teal and pink to represent the water and sky at dusk – and Josie brought that to life gorgeously on the stationery.”
Would you recommend Ivory Isle Designs to other brides? If so, could you please share with us your experience?
“Yes, absolutely! You were so flexible! We had some last-minute changes and you made it all work. You made the whole process so much easier and the stationery was beautiful!”
